WishBone Medical, Inc. signs licensing agreement for the Guided Growth Plate
in Press ReleasesWarsaw, Indiana, December 14, 2018 – WishBone Medical, Inc. has been granted a global, non-exclusive license for the sale of a patented guided growth plating system in children with deformed limbs. These 3 patents were created and designed for the gradual correction of pediatric deformities in both the upper and lower extremities.
WishBone Medical is designing and developing its own guided growth plate and instrumentation systems in sterile packed, single use, disposable kits. This product will come in both the 2-hole and 4-hole plates systems in multiple sizes as well as options in stainless steel and titanium. The anticipated launch will be in first quarter 2019, following FDA Clearance.
Nick Deeter, Chairman of the Board WishBone Medical, said, “We are excited to enter into this license agreement of patented technologies to develop, produce and sell our guided growth systems. These systems will provide global access in sterile packed, single use disposable kits for children who are suffering with these pediatric deformities around the world. WishBone Medical, Inc. announces new AlloMate Bone Pin System
in Press ReleasesThe AlloMate Bone Pin System consists of allograft bone pins and accessory instrumentation for quick, reliable and reproducible bone pin insertion. The complete system will be available in five different individual sizes (2.0mm, 2.5mm, 3.0mm, 3.5mm, and 4.0mm) of sterilized human cortical bone pins & corresponding single-use instruments for convenient insertion. We will launch these various sizes in stages. The 3.0mm is currently available and the 2.5mm will be available soon followed by the 2.0mm and the additional sizes. Our initial market feedback with the 3.0mm system has been extremely positive.
These bone pins are sturdy, easy to handle and can integrate into the patient’s bone to help with the healing process. These sterile packed implants and instruments may potentially reduce the risk of infection and can be accurately trimmed intraoperatively to an appropriate length.
Daniel S. Schulman, D.P.M., helped develop this system and he said, “I have performed well over four hundred foot reconstructive procedures without the use of a metal implant. I can validate that this system will definitely simplify the surgical technique and minimize intra-operative and post-operative surgical complications. Patients are elated when they are told there will be no need for a second surgery to remove potentially painful, broken or even infected hardware.”

Dr. Kunkel earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University and his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He did his internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. and his residency at Grand Rapids Orthopedic Surgery and Blodgett Memorial Medical Center. His fellowship was in Sports Medicine at the University of Toronto and at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedics.

Research and product development is important to Dr. Betz, and he also has 17 patents. He belongs to several national and international professional societies. He has published 5 books, authored many medical texts and books; including 52 chapters for medical books and written 330 peer-reviewed articles.

WishBone Medical’s response to OrthoPediatrics press release
in Press ReleasesWishBone Medical, Inc. is a pediatric orthopedic company dedicated to the unmet needs of children suffering from orthopedic challenges. WishBone was started two years ago by Nick Deeter and has been called by OrthoStreams “the undisputed pioneer of orthopedic implants for kids.” Nick Deeter was also the founder of OrthoPediatrics, which he started in 2006. Nick is deeply saddened in the way he is being treated by his former company.
Nick Deeter welcomes competition. In a recent interview, Nick commented “We are operating in a $2.5 billion market where 95% of the implants were not designed for children. It’s an appalling statistic…I would welcome the competition to improve outcomes for children.” Sadly, this legal campaign by OP is designed to eliminate fair competition while doing nothing to promote improved outcomes for children.
WishBone fully expects to be vindicated in this lawsuit. We look forward to having it behind us so that we can continue to build our company. We have recently announced the acquisition of Red Star Contract Manufacturing (sterile packaging and injection molding), Response Ortho (an orthopedic company with 34 product systems in operation since 2004), and a licensing agreement for a guided growth plate.
